"Donnie Darko" é um filme estadunidense de 2001 do gênero ficção-científica/suspense dirigido e escrito por Richard Kelly e estrelado por Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mary McDonnell, Daveigh Chase, Holmes Osborne, Drew Barrymore e Patrick Swayze.
Um adolescente problemático, Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal) escapa da morte depois de uma turbina de avião cair em cima do seu quarto, por causa de um coelho de 2 metros de altura chamado Frank (James Duval) o acordou e o atraiu para fora de sua casa. Frank diz que o mundo irá acabar em 28 dias. Enquanto os dias vão passando, Donnie é envolvido em uma série de eventos alarmante que pode ou não pode ser um produto de uma crescente insanidade.
O filme é incrivelmente bom. Ouvi falar dele por causa de amigos, então, pela sugestão deles, decidi assistir. As atuações dos irmãos Gyllenhaal (Jake e Maggie) são simplesmente fantásticas, assim como as de Drew Barrymore e Jena Malone. O filme possui elementos de ficção-científica, como viagem no tempo e loop temporal.
E já vou avisando: se você é uma pessoa que está muito acostumada com blockbusters e filmes de super-heróis, vai levar duas ou até três vezes para você entender o filme. Esse filme meio que "trava" a sua mente, e vou admitir, travou a minha na primeira vez, mas na segunda, eu já entendi.
É simplesmente um dos filmes de ficção mais originais que eu já vi. Possui uma história ótima, personagens interessantes, uma trilha sonora arrebatadora, e citações e falas memoráveis.
Altamente recomendo Donnie Darko para os fãs de ficção-científica, e uma sugestão: veja a versão de cinema, depois veja a versão (estendida) do diretor, que possui alguns complementos para o filme!!

The movie is amazingly good. I heard of it because some friends told me about it, and I watched it, because of their suggestion. The performances of the Gyllenhaal siblings (Jake and Maggie) are simply amazing. Drew Barrymore and Jena Malone's performances are also really good! The movie has some sci-fi elements, like time travel and time loop.
And I'm warning you guys with anticipation: if you're used to blockbusters and superhero films, it will take you two or three times to actually understand the movie. It kind of messes up with your mind, and, I've got to admit, it messed up with mine on the first time I watched it, but I understood it on the second time!!
It is simply one of the most original pieces of sci-fi I've ever seen. It has a great plot, interesting characters, a groundbreaking soundtrack, and memorable quotes.
I highly recommend Donnie Darko to sci-fi fans, and here's a suggestion: watch the theatrical version, then watch the (extended) director's cut. It sort of complements the film!
