O filme se ambienta na cidade fictícia de Derry, no estado do Maine, nos EUA, no final dos anos 80, e conta a história de sete amigos, que se auto-intitulam como o Clube dos Otários, composto por Bill (Lieberher), cujo irmão desapareceu misteriosamente, Beverly (Lillis), que sofre abuso na escola e em casa, Richie (Wolfhard), um nerd de óculos, que é o "palhaço" do grupo, Eddie (Grazer), um menino preocupado com enfermidades, Ben (Taylor), um garoto com sobrepeso que é perseguido por bullies, Stan (Oleff), um menino judeu que é forçado por seu pai a fazer o bar mitzvah perfeito, e Mike (Jacobs), um menino negro cujos pais morreram em um incêndio, que são aterrorizados por um ser conhecido como Pennywise, o Palhaço Dançarino (Skarsgard), e também por seus terrores pessoais no processo, como o bullying, cometido pelo sádico Henry Bowers (Hamilton), o abuso, e o preconceito.

Como uma adaptação de Stephen King, o filme é fantástico. Ele possui aquela essência de Stephen King presente no incrível "Conta Comigo", e um tom de camaradagem, presente em "Os Goonies", e é simplesmente brilhante como o filme trabalha mais no desenvolvimento e relacionamento dos personagens do que em entregar sustos baratos (jumpscares). Nas 2 horas e 15 minutos de filme, o espectador não sente um pingo de cansaço, graças à uma atmosfera sinistra, atuações marcantes e hilárias, e uma trilha sonora assustadoramente boa. Bill Skarsgard arrasa como um Pennywise fantástico, que se equipara com a versão de 1990, interpretada pelo maravilhoso Tim Curry. A maquiagem e a voz ajudam o personagem a causar verdadeiros sustos, e é impossível não se assustar com ele. As crianças, com destaque para a expressiva Sophia Lillis e a performance hilária de Finn Wolfhard, entregam as melhores performances do filme, e graças a um bom roteiro, eles demonstram uma química perfeita entre os Otários. Andy Muschietti, do terror "Mama", está incrível na cadeira de diretor, e espero que ele tenha um grande futuro pela frente! (E que esse futuro inclua o Capítulo 2 de It... (risos))
Com as portas abertas para um segundo capítulo, atuações marcantes, uma fotografia morbidamente sombria, uma trilha sonora nostálgica e macabra ao mesmo tempo, e um roteiro leve e, por incrível que pareça, intenso, It vai muito além de só um filme de terror, entregando uma mensagem moralizante sobre a força da amizade, a importância da coragem e a capacidade de enfrentar seus medos.
Amei esse filme demais!!! Pra mim, é o melhor filme do ano até agora!! Altamente recomendo ele para vocês!!!

As a Stephen King adaptation, the movie is fantastic. It has that Stephen King essence present in the amazing "Stand by Me", and also that sense of camaraderie, present in "The Goonies", and it is simply brilliant how it develops more on the relationships between the characters than just delivering cheap jumpscares. In the 135 minutes of the film, the viewer does not feel one bit tired, thanks to a creepy atmosphere, astounding, hilarious performances, and a scary good score. Bill Skarsgard nails it as a fantastic Pennywise, which equals his version to the 1990s' version, played by the wonderful Tim Curry. His make-up and voice help the character to cause real, genuine scares, and it is impossible not to be scared by him. The kids, specially the expressive Sophia Lillis, and the hilarious performance of Finn Wolfhard, deliver the best performances of the film, and thanks to a good script, they show a perfect chemistry between the Losers. Andy Muschietti, from "Mama", does an amazing job in the director's chair, and I hope he has a bright future ahead of him! (And I also hope that bright future includes Chapter 2 of It... (LOL))

With the doors open to a second chapter, astounding performances, a morbidly dark cinematography, a nostalgic, and harrowing score, and a light, yet intense script, It goes way beyond from just a horror flick, delivering an important message about the strength of friendship, the importance of bravery, and the capacity to face your fears.

I really loved this movie! For me, it is the best film of the year so far! I highly recommend it to you guys!!!

O filme, ambientado no País de Gales na década de 1980, conta a história de Oliver Tate (Roberts), um garoto de 15 anos, que possui dois objetivos na vida de adolescente: perder a sua virgindade com uma garota, Jordana Bevan (Paige), que é tão impopular quanto ele, e salvar o casamento dos pais (Taylor e Hawkins), quando, de repente, um ex-namorado (Considine) da mãe dele reaparece na vida do casal.

Ouvi falar desse filme por meio de uma lista que indicava filmes que podiam ter sido dirigidos por Wes Anderson, que é um dos meus diretores favoritos dessa geração, então, interessado pelo enredo, e pelo tema do primeiro amor, presente no meu filme favorito do Wes, Moonrise Kingdom, fui assistir o filme. E foi uma surpresa super-agradável. As atuações do elenco inteiro, principalmente as de Roberts e Paige, estão incríveis. A fotografia, o roteiro, e direção são outras vantagens fantásticas do filme, fazendo-o parecer muito com o trabalho do Wes Anderson, entregando um Moonrise Kingdom adulto e melancólico, só que sem a parte da fuga. A trilha sonora, composta e cantada por Alex Turner, da banda Arctic Monkeys, encaixa perfeitamente com os contextos das cenas em que as músicas são tocadas, sendo um ótimo complemento para a estreia de Richard Ayoade como diretor. Visualmente fantástico, sonoramente melancólico, e impulsionado pelo carisma de seus protagonistas, Submarine é um filme adulto sobre pessoas jovens, e um dos mais realistas, quando se trata do assunto de primeiro amor, na minha opinião.
Amei esse filme demais!!! Super recomendo esse incrível filme para quem curte esse assunto e o trabalho de Wes Anderson!!

I heard about this film because of a list that showed films that could have been directed by Wes Anderson, one of my favorite directors in our generation, so, captured by the plot, and by the theme of first love, present in my favorite Wes Anderson film, Moonrise Kingdom, I watched the film. And it was a very pleasant surprise. The performances of the whole cast, highlighting Roberts' and Paige's, are amazing. The cinematography, the script, and the directing are some of the film's fantastic advantages, making it look like Wes Anderson's work, giving us a more mature, melancholic Moonrise Kingdom, only without the escape part. The soundtrack, composed and sung by Alex Turner, Arctic Monkeys' frontman, fits perfectly in the scenes where the songs are played, making it a great complement to Richard Ayoade's directorial debut. Visually fantastic, sonorously melancholic, and propelled by the leads' charisma and personality, Submarine is a mature film about young people, and one of the most realistic films about first love, in my opinion.
I really loved this film! I highly recommend this amazing movie to fans of films about first love and Wes Anderson's work!!

Ninguém esperava pelo sucesso do primeiro filme em 2014, com um tom diferente dos outros filmes do Universo Cinematográfico da Marvel, mais humorístico, cheio de referências à música e cultura dos anos 70 e 80, majoritariamente, por causa da sua memorável e já icônica trilha sonora. Isso o fez que Guardiões da Galáxia se tornasse o meu filme favorito de super-heróis de todos os tempos. 3 anos depois, a segunda parte da ópera espacial de James Gunn chegou às telonas, com um orçamento maior e com os Guardiões e o próprio Gunn no holofote. O diretor/roteirista tenta, nesse segundo capítulo, recuperar a faísca que fez o primeiro filme explodir. Na minha opinião, essa faísca não foi inteiramente recuperada, mas não significa que o filme seja ruim. Pelo contrário, ele é extremamente divertido.
O filme conta com boas atuações do elenco inteiro, com destaque para Pratt, e seu timing cômico perfeito, Michael Rooker como Yondu, a química entre os personagens de Bautista e Klementieff (Drax e Mantis) e os de Cooper e Diesel (Rocky e Groot), e os personagens de Russell e Stallone, que complementam aquele tom de nostalgia dos anos 80, da qual o filme é repleto.
Visualmente, o filme é um espetáculo de cenários e efeitos especiais, e é um daqueles filmes que merece ser visto em 3D, pois o filme é um deleite para se ver nas telonas, sendo visualmente superior ao primeiro filme, com cenários bem coloridos e vibrantes.
A trilha sonora do segundo filme é ainda melhor do que a do primeiro, contando com uma diversidade de gêneros musicais e a própria trilha ajuda a entender o enredo, com músicas sobre laços e família.
Mais colorido e nostálgico do que o espetacular primeiro filme, "Guardiões da Galáxia Vol. 2" consegue, com a liderança do sempre ótimo James Gunn, desviar um pouco dos padrões, só que nem tanto que nem o primeiro, e definitivamente não tanto quanto o melhor filme do gênero do ano até agora, Logan.
Amei o filme demais, e a espera valeu muito a pena!! Extremamente recomendo esse filme para os fãs dos Guardiões e os fãs da Marvel!!

Set 3-4 months after the first film, Peter Quill (Pratt), Gamora (Saldana), Drax (Bautista), Rocket (voiced by Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Diesel) are renowned as the Guardians of the Galaxy. Due to the theft of a precious material belonging to an ancient people, the Sovereigns, led by High Priestess Ayesha (Debicki), chase down the Guardians throughout the cosmos. Meanwhile, Peter finally meets his father (Russell), who teaches him about his ancestry.

No one expected the huge success of the first film, released in 2014, with a different, more humorous tone, far from the other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, filled with references to 70s-80s culture and music, mostly due to the memorable and already iconic soundtrack. That made Guardians of the Galaxy be my favorite superhero film of all time. 3 years later, the second part of James Gunn's space opera hits the big screens, with a larger budget and a spotlight over the Guardians and Gunn himself. The writer-director tries, in this second chapter, to retrieve the spark which caused the first film to explode. In my opinion, that spark was not fully recovered, but that doesn't mean that the film is bad. On the contrary, it is extremely fun.
The film has some fine pieces of acting, highlighting Pratt and his perfect comic timing, Rooker's performance as Yondu, the chemistry between Bautista and Klementieff's (Drax and Mantis) and Cooper and Diesel's (Rocket and Groot) characters, and Russell and Stallone's acting, which compliments that tone of 80s nostalgia, of which the film is filled.
Visually, the movie is a spectacle of sets and special effects, and it's one of those films that deserve to be seen in 3D, because it is a delight to watch in the big screens, being visually superior to the first film, with very colorful and vibrant sets.
The soundtrack of the second film is far superior to the first one, because of its diversity of music genres, and its ability to help understand the movie's plot, with songs about bonding and family.
More colorful and nostalgic than the spectacular first film, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", succeeds, thanks to the always great James Gunn, in diverging some of the superhero movie standards, but not as much as the first film, and definitely not as much as the best film in this genre of the year so far, Logan.
I really loved this film so much, and it was very worth the wait. I extremely recommend it to the fans of the Guardians and Marvel!!

O filme gira em torno de Bela (Watson), moradora de uma pequena aldeia francesa, que tem seu pai (Kline) capturado por uma Fera (Stevens), e oferece sua vida ao monstro em troca da liberdade dele. Através de conversas com os vários objetos do castelo onde a Fera vive: Lumière (McGregor), um candelabro; Horloge (McKellen), um relógio; Madame Samovar (Thompson), um bule, e seu filho, Zip (Nathan Mack), uma xícara; Madame de Garderobe (McDonald), um guarda-roupa, e seu marido, Cadenza (Tucci), um piano; e Plumette (Mbatha-Raw), um espanador e a namorada de Lumière, Bela descobre que a Fera, na verdade é um príncipe, que precisa de um ato de amor verdadeiro para voltar à forma humana.

Sinceramente, A Bela e a Fera era o filme que eu estava mais esperando para esse ano, junto com Star Wars: Os Últimos Jedi, e desde que eu tinha 14 anos, quando eu vi o filme de animação pela primeira vez, fiquei super-ultra-mega animado. Não pude conferi-lo na estreia ou em 3D, mas fico muito feliz em dizer que esse é o melhor filme do ano até agora, junto com Logan. Que produção fantástica! Bill Condon, o diretor do filme, é conhecido por filmes bons, como Dreamgirls, e outros, nem tanto, como os dois últimos filmes da saga Crepúsculo, mas com esse, ele se redimiu. Quem tinha dúvida que a Emma Watson seria uma boa Bela, me atrevo a dizer que achei ela melhor do que a Paige O'Hara (atriz que fez a voz da personagem no filme de 1991). Além de ter treinado a voz de canto com a atriz, Watson nos entrega uma Bela destemida, e com características adicionais que fazem dela menos inocente do que a do filme de 91. O resto do elenco foi fantasticamente bem escolhido, com Dan Stevens interpretando uma Fera menos visceral e um pouquinho mais engraçada, o que funcionou muito bem; Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline e um grande elenco interpretando muito bem os clássicos personagens. E, seriamente, o personagem que causou mais controvérsia é o melhor personagem do filme, com Josh Gad, conhecido como a voz original do boneco de neve Olaf em Frozen, entregando uma performance fantástica em live-action como o hilário LeFou. A trilha sonora é extraordinária, com canções do filme de 1991, causando um tornado de nostalgia, e canções originais, como a lindíssima Evermore, cantada por Stevens no filme, que nos fazem sorrir e chorar ao mesmo tempo.
Extremamente nostálgico e relativamente original, por consertar alguns furos não resolvidos no filme de 1991, "A Bela e a Fera" é o melhor filme de 2017 até agora, o melhor remake da Disney, junto com Mogli, e um filme imperdível!
Amei esse filme de paixão!! Nota 11 de 10! Extremamente recomendo esse filme para todos vocês!!

Through conversations with various objects from the castle where the Beast lives: Lumière (McGregor), a candelabra; Cogsworth (McKellen), a clock; Mrs. Potts (Thompson), a teapot, and her son, Chip (Nathan Mack), a teacup; Madame de Garderobe (McDonald), a wardrobe, and her husband, Cadenza (Tucci), a piano; and Plumette (Mbatha-Raw), a duster and Lumière's girlfriend, Belle discovers that the Beast is, actually a prince, who needs an act of true love in order to return to his human form.

Honestly, Beauty and the Beast was the most-awaited film of 2017 for me, along with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and since I was 14, when I first saw the 1991 animated film, I was super excited for it. I wasn't able to go to the premiere or to watch it in 3D, but I am very happy to say that this is the best movie of the year so far, along with Logan. What a fantastic production! Bill Condon, the director of the film, is known for good films, like Dreamgirls, and some aren't that good, like the last 2 films in the Twilight saga, but with this one, he totally redeemed himself. To those who were doubting if Emma Watson was a good Belle, I dare to say that I thought she was even better than Paige O'Hara (the actress who voiced Belle in the animated film). Besides getting her singing voice trained by the voice actress, Watson gives us a fearless and less innocent performance as Belle, giving the character additional characteristics that weren't present in the '91 film. The rest of the cast was very well chosen, with Dan Stevens portraying a less visceral and funnier Beast, which actually works pretty well; Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline, Luke Evans, and a stellar cast portraying the already iconic characters. And, seriously, the character that caused the most controversy is the best one in the whole film, with Josh Gad, known as the voice of Frozen's Olaf, making a live-action fantastic turn as the hilarious LeFou. The soundtrack is simply extraordinary, containing songs from the 1991 classic, which causes a tornado of nostalgia, and original songs, like the breathtaking Evermore, sung by Stevens in the film, which makes us smile and cry at the same time.
Extremely nostalgic, and relatively original, for fixing some plot holes that the 1991 film wasn't able to solve, Beauty and the Beast is the best movie of the year so far, the best Disney live-action remake, along with The Jungle Book, and a must-watch motion picture!!
I loved this film so freaking much!!!! I give it an 11 out of 10!! Seems fair! I highly recommend it for all of you!!!

Em um futuro próximo, um exausto Logan (Jackman) cuida de um doente Charles Xavier (Stewart) em um esconderijo na fronteira entre os EUA e o México, com a ajuda de Caliban (Merchant), um mutante capaz de localizar outros mutantes. Mas os objetivos de Logan de se esconder do mundo e de seu legado são interrompidos, quando uma jovem mutante (Keen) chega, perseguida por forças sombrias.

Desde o primeiro trailer, Logan entregou a nós um sentimento melancólico, diferente de tudo que a saga X-Men já enfrentou. Já o segundo trailer entrega uma quantidade enorme de violência e palavrões que definem o tom do filme. Logan era um dos filmes que eu estava mais animado para ver em 2017, e quando finalmente tive acesso ao resultado final, vi que é, simplesmente, o melhor filme dos X-Men já feito.
Hugh Jackman dá o seu melhor na sua despedida no papel do mutante Wolverine, entregando uma atuação sólida, visceral e, acima de tudo, realista. O papel do sempre ótimo Patrick Stewart como uma versão doente do Professor Xavier traz um sentimento bem triste ao filme, já que é também a última aparição de Stewart como Xavier. Mas a verdadeira rouba-cenas nesse filme é a mutante Laura, mais conhecida como X-23, interpretada pela Dafne Keen no filme, que entrega uma performance agressivamente fantástica, com muita energia e também com muitas emoções e expressões.
O roteiro comandado por James Mangold foge dos princípios de um "filme de super-herói", resultando num drama melancólico com muita ação, sangue, palavrões e um senso de humor bem ácido.
A fotografia e os cenários do filme podem classificar Logan como um Western moderno, com algumas partes de road movie, mas não como um filme de super-herói, tanto que, pelo fato de não ter sido exibido em 3D nos cinemas, torna o filme mais vivo, mais realista e menos fantasioso.
Com performances dignas de Oscar de Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart e Dafne Keen, um roteiro fantasticamente violento, uma fotografia natural de tirar o fôlego, e ação do começo ao fim, Logan é um dos filmes mais sombrios (e tristes) que a Marvel já fez, uma despedida digna das atuações de Hugh Jackman interpretando o personagem, que fecha a trilogia do Wolverine com chave de ouro, e o melhor filme do ano até agora!!!

Logan is a 2017 American action-drama film directed by James Mangold and it stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Richard E. Grant. The film has an original story written by Mangold, influenced by the graphic novel Old Man Logan, by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven.

In a near future, a weary Logan (Jackman) takes care of an ill Charles Xavier (Stewart) in a hide out in the border between the US and Mexico, with the help of Caliban (Merchant), a mutant capable of tracking other mutants. But Logan's objectives of hiding himself from the world and his legacy are interrupted when a young mutant (Keen) arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Since the first trailer, Logan left us with a melancholic feeling, different from anything the X-Men saga has ever done. And the second trailer delivers a huge amount of violence and profanity, which define the dark tone of the film. Logan was one of the films I was most excited to watch in 2017, and when I finally got to see the final results, I realized that it is, simply, the best X-Men movie to date!
Hugh Jackman does his best in his final performance as mutant Wolverine, delivering a solid, visceral, and overall, realistic piece of acting. The performance from the always awesome Patrick Stewart as a sick version of Professor Xavier brings a rather sad feeling to the film, since it is also Stewart's last appearance as Xavier. But the true scene stealer in Logan is Laura, the young mutant known as X-23, played by Dafne Keen, who delivers an agressively fantastic performance, filled with energy, expressions and emotions.
The script led by James Mangold runs away from the usuals in a "superhero movie", resulting in a melancholic drama with lots of action, blood, profanity and an acid sense of humor.
The cinematography and sets of the film can label Logan as a modern Western road movie, but not as a superhero one. Because of the fact that it isn't being shown in 3D in cinemas, Logan is a more alive and realistic, and less fanciful movie.
Propelled by Oscar-worthy performances from Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Dafne Keen, a fantastically violent script, a breathtaking natural cinematography, and loads of action from beginning to end, Logan is one of the darkest (and saddest) movies Marvel has ever made, a worthy farewell to Hugh Jackman's performances of the character, which brings the Wolverine trilogy to a golden close, and it is the best movie of the year so far!!!
I loved it so much! I highly recommend it to you guys!!!

Olá, cinéfilos!! Ontem à noite consegui terminar uma façanha que nunca tinha feito antes: consegui assistir todos os filmes indicados ao Oscar de Melhor Filme!! E agora, irei classificá-los em contagem regressiva, escrevendo minhas opiniões sobre eles!!!
(Hello, film buffs! Yesterday I managed to finish something I have never done before: I watched all of the 89th Oscars nominees for Best Picture!! And now, I will grade them in a countdown, writing my opinions about them!! The English translations are right below the Portuguese original version.)

OK, vamos começar com:

9 - MOONLIGHT - SOB A LUZ DO LUAR, dirigido por Barry Jenkins - 8/10 - Indicado a 8 Oscars

Esperei muito por esse filme por causa da repercussão, dizendo que é o melhor filme de 2016, e o único que pode derrotar La La Land na categoria. Finalmente consegui vê-lo ontem, e sinceramente, achei ele meio parado. Claro, em aspectos técnicos, como fotografia e trilha sonora, o filme é incrível, mas a história é meio parada às vezes. Quando você acha que alguma coisa vai acontecer, ela não acontece. Graças à atuação digna de Oscar de Mahershala Ali, à fotografia hipnotizante e à trilha sonora, Moonlight é um filme legal, mas não grandioso como as repercussões dizem.
(I've waited a lot to watch this movie because of all the critical acclaim it has been receiving, saying that it is the best movie of 2016, and the only one that could dethrone La La Land in the category. I finally got to see it yesterday, and honestly, I found it to be kinda weak. In technical aspects, like cinematography and the score, it is amazing, but the story is kinda dead sometimes. When you think something's going to happen, it doesn't. Thanks to the Oscar-worthy performance from Mahershala Ali, the hypnotizing cinematography and the score, Moonlight is a good film, but not great as the more experienced reviews say.)

8 - A QUALQUER CUSTO, dirigido por David Mackenzie - 8,25/10 - Indicado a 4 Oscars

Esse drama com elementos de faroeste me impressionou muito. Com atuações incríveis de Chris Pine, Ben Foster, e principalmente, Jeff Bridges, A Qualquer Custo revitaliza o gênero neo-faroeste, e pode ser considerado um art film, pela sua fantástica fotografia, edição e direção. Aclamado pela crítica, o filme é um dos meus favoritos do gênero, com um enredo cativante, que te deixa preso no seu assento, e um roteiro de matar, combinado com uma atuação sólida de Jeff Bridges, uma das melhores até agora!! Adorei!!

(This drama with Western elements caught me by surprise. With astounding performances from Chris Pine, Ben Foster and, mainly, Jeff Bridges, Hell or High Water brings the neo-Western genre back to life, and it could be considered an art film, because of its fantastic cinematography, editing and directing. Critically acclaimed, it is one of my favorites in the Western genre, with a captivating plot, which keeps you stuck in your seat, and a killing script, combined with a solid performance from Jeff Bridges, one of his greatest so far!! I loved it!!)

7 - UM LIMITE ENTRE NÓS, dirigido por Denzel Washington - 8,5/10 - Indicado a 4 Oscars)

O terceiro filme com Denzel Washington na cadeira de diretor, Um Limite Entre Nós é baseado na peça vencedora do Prêmio Pulitzer, Fences, do autor August Wilson, que também escreveu o roteiro do filme. O filme se passa, basicamente em um só lugar, na casa dos personagens de Denzel Washington e Viola Davis, o que reforça que é baseado em uma peça. Mas essa restrição junta atuações grandiosas de Washington e Davis, que possuem grandes chances no Oscar 2017. O roteiro, pelo jeito, ficou fiel à peça que inspirou o filme (nunca li a peça), já que é escrito pelo próprio dramaturgo. Adotando temas como família, morte e traição, Um Limite entre Nós é um filme que vale muito a pena ver!!!

(Being Denzel Washington's third film in the director's chair, Fences is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name, written by August Wilson, who also wrote the film's screenplay. The film is set, basically, in just one place, which is the house where Denzel Washington and Viola Davis' characters live, which reinforces the fact that it is based on a play. But this restriction brings together with it great performances from Washington and Davis, who have big chances at the Oscars. I've never read the play, but I guess the script remained faithful to the source material, since the screenplay was written by the play's writer. Dealing with themes like family, death, and cheating, Fences is a must-see film!!)

6 - LION - UMA JORNADA PARA CASA, dirgido por Garth Davis - 8,75/10 - Indicado a 6 Oscars)

Essa história real de um garoto indiano perdido me capturou desde o trailer. Com atuações fantásticas de Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman e Rooney Mara, Lion é impulsionado pelos flashbacks que mostram o jovem Saroo viajando pela Índia procurando sua família, enfrentando muitas dificuldades. Praticamente sendo um filme biográfico, ele é bem emocionante, especialmente o final. O filme possui um roteiro sólido, uma direção fantástica de Garth Davis, e uma atuação bem genuína e digna de prêmios de Nicole Kidman, com um visual diferente do normal. Recomendo muito esse filme para vocês!!

(This true story of a lost Indian boy captured me since the trailer. With fantastic performances from Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara, Lion is boosted by the flashbacks that show young Saroo traveling through India, looking for his family, facing a lot of difficulties. Practically being a biopic, it is really thrilling and emotional, especially its ending. It has a solid script, amazing direction from Garth Davis, and a genuine Oscar-worthy performance from Nicole Kidman, with a different look. I truly recommend it to you guys!!!)

5 - MANCHESTER À BEIRA-MAR, dirigido por Kenneth Lonergan - 9/10 - Indicado a 6 Oscars)

Esse filme extremamente triste é na verdade um dos melhores dessa temporada de prêmios. Com uma atuação deprimente, e ao mesmo tempo, fantástica de Casey Affleck, e uma atuação reveladora de Lucas Hedges, ambos indicados a Melhor Ator e Melhor Ator Coadjuvante, respectivamente, Manchester À Beira-Mar possui uma atmosfera hipnotizante, com uma fotografia natural, e uma direção e roteiro sensacionais de Lonergan. Essa obra-prima moderna provavelmente vai levar, pelo menos, o de Melhor Ator para o Casey Affleck, porque aquela atuação dele foi demais!! Recomendo muito para todos vocês que querem um drama bem triste mesmo!!

(This extremely sad film is actually one of the best of this award season. With a depressing yet fantastic performance from Casey Affleck, and a breakout performance by newcomer Lucas Hedges, both nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively, Manchester By The Sea has a hypnotizing atmosphere, a natural cinematography, and fantastic direction and script by Lonergan. This modern masterpiece will probably bring home, at least, the Best Actor one because of the awesome performance from Casey Affleck!! I highly recommend it for the ones who want a really sad drama!!)

4 - A CHEGADA, dirigido por Denis Villeneuve - 9,25/10 - Indicado a 8 Oscars

Essa mescla de ficção-científica com drama me chamou a atenção por causa do diretor, Denis Villeneuve, o mesmo diretor de Sicario, e por causa do trio principal (Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner e Forest Whitaker). Pode ser considerada uma obra-prima moderna, por fugir dos estereótipos de ficção-científica, em que os aliens querem destruir a Terra, e também por incluir uma reviravolta que vai deixar os espectadores de queixo caído, que faz repensar o filme inteiro. Com uma atuação que devia ter sido indicada ao Oscar de Amy Adams, A Chegada é mais um acerto de Denis Villeneuve, que tem uma promissora carreira pela frente!!

(This sci-fi/drama hybrid caught my attention because of the director, Denis Villeneuve, the same director from Sicario, and because of the main trio (Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker). It could be considered a modern masterpiece, for escaping the sci-fi stereotypes, in which aliens want to destroy Earth, and also for including a plot twist which will leave the viewers with their jaws dropped, and it makes you re-think the whole movie. With a should-have-been-Oscar-nominated performance from Amy Adams, Denis Villeneuve gets it right one more time with Arrival, and he has a promising career ahead of him!!)

3 - ESTRELAS ALÉM DO TEMPO, dirigido por Theodore Melfi - 9,5/10 - Indicado a 3 Oscars)

Mais uma história real indicada a Melhor Filme, a história de três mulheres negras que trabalham na NASA, mediante ao preconceito, ajudando, em sua maioria, nos cálculos das trajetórias e na engenharia, é simplesmente emocionante, impulsionada por atuações dignas de prêmios de Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer e Janelle Monáe, e atuações impressionantes de Kevin Costner, Mahershala Ali e Jim Parsons. Tem um roteiro fantástico, que mistura humor e drama, uma direção incrível de Theodore Melfi, e uma trilha sonora encantadora de Hans Zimmer e Pharrell Williams. Entre os indicados, para mim, é um dos que mais merecem a estatueta de Melhor Filme, junto com os filmes número 2 e 1 da lista!!

(Another true story nominated for Best Picture, the story of three black women who work at NASA, facing prejudice, helping, in its majority, in the calculation of the trajectories and engineering, is simply thrilling, boosted by award-worthy performances from Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe, and impressive performances from Kevin Costner, Mahershala Ali and Jim Parsons. It has a fantastic script, mixing together humor and drama, amazing directing from Theodore Melfi, and a charming soundtrack from Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams. Between the nominees, for me, it's one who definitely could win the Best Picture one, along with number 2 and number 1 on this list!!!)

2 - ATÉ O ÚLTIMO HOMEM, dirigido por Mel Gibson - 9,75/10 - Indicado a 6 Oscars

A terceira história real indicada a Melhor Filme, ambientado na Segunda Guerra Mundial, a volta de Mel Gibson na cadeira de diretor conta a história emocionante de Desmond Doss (interpretado brilhantemente por Andrew Garfield), que num campo de batalha contra os japoneses, se recusou a usar uma arma, e ajudou seus parceiros como médico de combate, tendo sua fé como reforço. É uma grande experiência visual, com cenas de ação intensas, no melhor estilo "O Resgate do Soldado Ryan", e um dos melhores filmes de guerra que eu já vi, junto com o inesquecível "A Lista de Schindler". Sinto que esse filme pode ganhar a estatueta principal, junto com o de Melhor Diretor para Mel Gibson. É simplesmente impactante, um filmaço!!! Recomendo muito esse filme para todos vocês!!

(The third true story nominated for Best Picture, set in World War II, Mel Gibson's return to the director's chair tells the thrilling story of Desmond Doss (played brilliantly by Andrew Garfield), who, in a battlefield against the Japanese, refused to carry a weapon, and helped his fellow partners as a combat medic, having his faith as backup. It is a great visual experience, with intense action scenes, "Saving Private Ryan" style, and one of the best war-related movies I've ever seen, along with the unforgettable "Schindler's List". I feel that this film could win the main award, along with Best Director for Mel Gibson. It is simply groundbreaking, a great movie! I highly recommend it to you all!!)

Sabe aqueles filmes que chamam a sua atenção desde a primeira imagem liberada? Esse foi o caso de La La Land para mim. Quando anunciaram o filme, acabei de ter assistido o fantástico Whiplash, também dirigido por Chazelle, que abocanhou 3 Oscars em 2015. Quando vi que era um musical e que tinha Emma Stone e Ryan Gosling no elenco, aí já era pra mim. Tinha que assistir esse filme. Quando finalmente vi o resultado final, posso dizer que foi, em uma palavra, mágico. Uma carta de amor a Hollywood, ao show business e ao jazz, Damien Chazelle consegue criar uma história sobre pessoas como você e eu, sonhadores que desejam realizar seus sonhos em uma cidade grande. E acerta em cheio! Com uma trilha sonora original fantástica de Justin Hurwitz, roteiro e direção impecáveis de Damien Chazelle, atuações incríveis de Gosling e Stone, uma fotografia colorida e vibrante, figurinos que se destacam na tela e números musicais muito bem coreografados, La La Land é, com certeza, um dos melhores musicais que eu já vi, um daqueles filmes que é preciso ver no cinema, e definitivamente, merece o prêmio de Melhor Filme!! Recomendo muito para todos vocês, até os que não gostam de musicais!!

(You know those movies that catch your attention since the first image released? That was the case of La La Land for me. When it was announced, I had watched the 3-Oscar-winner Whiplash, a spectacular film also directed by Chazelle, a day before. When I read that it was a musical and starred Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, that was it for me. I had to watch this movie. When I finally got to see the final results, I can say that it was, in one word, magical. A love letter to Hollywood, showbiz and jazz, Damien Chazelle could create a story about people like you and me, dreamers who wish to make their dreams come true in a big city. And gets it right! With a fantastic original soundtrack by Justin Hurwitz, flawless direction and script by Damien Chazelle, amazing performances from Stone and Gosling, a colorful and vibrant cinematography, costumes that are highlights in the screen and well coreographed musical numbers, La La Land, is, certainly, one of the best musicals I've ever seen, one of those films you've gotta experience at the movie theater, and definitely, deserves the Best Picture award! I truly recommend it to you guys, even the ones who don't like musicals!!)

Em plena Los Angeles dos tempos atuais, Mia Dolan (Stone), uma garçonete aspirante a atriz, e Sebastian Wilder (Gosling), um pianista que deseja ter seu próprio clube de jazz, se apaixonam, e decidem perseguir seus sonhos, mas essa perseguição pode ameaçar o relacionamento amoroso dos dois.

Estive animado para esse filme desde que ele foi anunciado, pouco tempo depois de Whiplash lançar no Brasil, e passei dias vendo críticas super-positivas sobre o filme. E agora dou um suspiro de alívio quando digo que, sim, as críticas estão certas. O filme é uma maravilha para se ver e ouvir. Só pelo fato de ser um musical com uma trilha sonora original, sem pegar nada emprestado, já é um ponto positivo. A escolha dos dois protagonistas, interpretados por Ryan Gosling e Emma Stone, que dão um show de atuação, dança e canto, e que são dignas de Oscar, já é outro. Outro ponto importante é a direção e o roteiro de Damien Chazelle, que foi apresentado às massas com o espetacular Whiplash - Em Busca da Perfeição. Chazelle consegue fazer várias homenagens à Hollywood dos anos 50 e 60, com referências à obras-primas do cinema, como Casablanca, e clássicos, como Juventude Transviada, com James Dean, e como conta a história de sonhadores que querem ganhar a vida em LA, já é outra homenagem.
A fotografia do filme é de tirar o fôlego, com cenários noturnos encantadores. O figurino possui cores bem vibrantes que ganham destaque no plano de fundo.
A trilha sonora original de Justin Hurwitz, composta, em sua maioria, por jazz, e as músicas escritas pela dupla Pasek and Paul são dançantes e memoráveis, que deixam um sorriso estampado em nossos rostos. Os números musicais são fantasticamente coreografados pela ótima Mandy Moore, do programa So You Think You Can Dance, com cenas de sapateado e dança incríveis.

In modern-day Los Angeles, Mia Dolan (Stone), a barista who wants to be an actress, and Sebastian Wilder (Gosling), a pianist who wants to have his own jazz club, fall in love, and decide to follow their dreams, but their will to chase after what they want to be may threaten their romantic relationship.

I've been looking forward for this movie since it was announced, a little bit after I watched Whiplash, and I spent days reading good reviews about it. And now, I deliver a sigh of relief when I say, yes, those reviews are right. The movie is a visual and musical marvel. The fact that it is a musical with an original soundtrack, is already a positive point. The choice of the two protagonists, portrayed by Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, who own the movie by acting and singing and dancing, both Oscar-worthy, is another. Other important point is Damien Chazelle's direction and screenplay, which can make various homages and references to cinema masterpieces, like Casablanca, and classics, like Rebel Without a Cause, with James Dean, and as it tells the story of dreamers who want to make a living in LA, that's another homage right there.
The film's cinematography is breathtaking, with enchanting night scenarios. The costumes have really vibrant colors, which really highlights them in the background.
Justin Hurwitz's original soundtrack is composed by, in its majority, by jazz, and the songs written by the duo Pasek and Paul are memorable and dance-inducing, which leave a smile on our faces. The musical numbers are fantastically choreographed by the great Mandy Moore, from So You Think You Can Dance, with amazing dance and tap-dancing scenes.
