"A Chegada" (Arrival) é um filme estadunidense de 2016 do gênero ficção-científica/drama dirigido por Denis Villeneuve, e estrelado por Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg e Tzi Ma. O filme é baseado na história "Story of Your Life", escrita por Ted Chiang, e adaptada para o cinema por Eric Heisserer.

Depois da trágica morte de sua filha, a Dra. Louise Banks (Adams), uma especialista em línguas, é recrutada pelo Exército para ajudá-los à traduzir comunicações de seres extraterrestres, quando 12 naves alienígenas pousam em locais ao redor do planeta. Quando a humanidade sugere uma guerra global, a Dra. Banks e sua equipe, que inclui o especialista em física Ian Donnelly (Renner), precisam correr contra o tempo para obter respostas, e para isso, ela irá arriscar a sua própria vida e, talvez, até a da humanidade.

O filme é simplesmente brilhante. Com uma história inteligente, uma fotografia de tirar o fôlego, e atuações dignas de prêmios de Amy Adams e Jeremy Renner, "A Chegada" é um dos melhores filmes do ano, se não for o melhor. Mas, se vocês estiverem pensando que é um filme de ficção-científica onde os alienígenas possuem armas de laser, e saem destruindo a raça humana, é melhor tirarem essa ideia da cabeça. Não, "A Chegada" é bem mais profundo e complexo do que isso. É um filme que escapa dos clichês de todo filme de ficção-científica que possui alienígenas que "invadem" a Terra.
Acho que pode-se dizer que é uma mistura cult de "Contatos Imediatos de Terceiro Grau" (por causa do primeiro contato dos humanos e alienígenas) e "Donnie Darko" (vejam o filme e saberão o por quê).
Mas, se você for uma pessoa mais acostumada a blockbusters e filmes de super-heróis, você vai precisar ver esse filme umas 2 vezes para entender o contexto. É um pouquinho difícil de entender, eu confesso, até eu tive dificuldades em entender o final do filme, mas deem ao filme uma chance que, eu juro, vocês não vão se arrepender!!
Um espetáculo visual e cheio de atuações brilhantes, "A Chegada" é um certo indicado às principais categorias nas premiações de 2017!!!

"Arrival" is a 2016 American sci-fi/drama film directed by Denis Villeneuve and starred by Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg and Tzi Ma. The film is based on the short story "Story of Your Life", written by Ted Chiang and brought to screen by Eric Heisserer.

After her daughter's tragic death, Dr. Louise Banks (Adams), a language expert, is recruited by the Army to help them translate extraterrestrial beings' communications, when 12 alien spacecrafts land on places across the globe. When mankind suggests a global war, Dr. Banks and her team, that includes physicist Ian Donnelly (Renner), must run against time to obtain answers, and to do that, Louise will have to risk her own life, and maybe, even mankind's life.

The movie is simply brilliant. With a smart story and plot, breathtaking cinematography, and award-worthy performances from Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, "Arrival" is one of the best movies of the year, if not the best one!! But if you're thinking that this is one of those sci-fi movies where aliens have ray-guns and start wiping out mankind, you'd better get that idea off your head. No, "Arrival" is way deeper and more complex than that. It's a movie that escapes the cliches of every sci-fi movie where aliens "invade" Earth.
I think it can be said that it's a cult mixture of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (because of the encounter between humans and aliens) and "Donnie Darko" (see the movie and you'll see why).
But, if you are more used to blockbusters and superhero movies, it will take you 2 times to understand the context of the film. It's a little hard to understand, I'll admit, I had some difficulties in understanding the ending, but give it a chance, and, I swear, you won't regret it!
A visual spectacle, and filled with brilliant performances, "Arrival" is a certain nominee in the main categories in next year's awards race!!
