cinéfilos! Estou de volta, e estou aqui com a resenha da segunda
parte da segunda saga baseada na série de livros de sucesso “Harry
Potter”. O primeiro filme provou ser uma ótima extensão da saga,
apresentando personagens e ameaças novas de forma concisa e muito,
muito divertida. Será que a sequência é melhor, tão boa quanto,
ou pior do que seu antecessor? Vamos descobrir, na resenha de
“Animais Fantásticos: Os Crimes de Grindelwald”! Vamos lá!!

I'm back, with the review of the second chapter in the second saga
based on the hit book series “Harry Potter”. The first film
proved to be a great extension of the saga, introducing new
characters and threats in a concise, and very, very fun way. Is the
sequel better, just as good, or worse than its predecessor? Let's
find out, in this review of “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of
Grindelwald”! Let's go!!)
O filme começa quando
o primeiro terminou, com Gerardo Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) escapando
de seu cativeiro em Nova York, e partindo para Paris, à procura de
Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller), um jovem com um passado obscuro, que
também está no radar de Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) e Tina
Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), que contarão com a ajuda de Alvo
Dumbledore (Jude Law) para achar Credence e colocar um fim nos planos
malignos de Grindelwald.
(The movie begins
exactly when the first one ended, with Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny
Depp) escaping his prison in New York, and heading off to Paris,
looking for Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller), a young man with a dark
past, who is also being searched by Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne)
and Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), who will count with the
help of Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) in order to find Credence and to
put an end in Grindelwald's evil plans.)
Deixe-me começar
dizendo que o filme não é perfeito. Não possui aquela magia
envolvente presente nos filmes da saga “Harry Potter” e a
simplicidade presente no primeiro filme da saga “Animais
Fantásticos”, mas ainda assim, há muito o que gostar aqui.
Começaremos pelo visual e pelas características técnicas do filme.
Eles pegaram todas as características visuais que funcionaram no
primeiro filme e dobraram na qualidade. É visualmente estonteante,
encantador, e, de fato, fantástico. A fotografia é impecável,
assim como o trabalho de direção de arte e design de produção,
que conseguiu recriar, de forma inventiva e criativa, uma Paris de
tirar o fôlego no final da década de 1920. Outro aspecto que
melhorou bastante foi o uso dos efeitos especiais, especialmente na
criação dos animais fantásticos, que possuem uma identidade
própria através do visual e das atitudes deles. Resumindo,
visualmente, “Os Crimes de Grindelwald” é muito melhor do que
“Animais Fantásticos e Onde Habitam”, e o visual é
obrigatoriamente um dos aspectos que se deverão levar em conta ao
comprar o ingresso.
(Let me start by saying
that the movie is not perfect. It doesn't have that soothing magic as
in the “Harry Potter” films or the simplicity as in the first
film in the “Fantastic Beasts” saga, but still, there's a lot to
like here. Let's start with the visuals and the film's technical
qualities. They took all the visual characteristics that worked in
the first film and doubled them in quality. It's visually
astonishing, charming and, indeed, fantastic. The cinematography is
flawless, and so is the art direction and the production design, that
managed to recreate, in an inventive and creative way, a breathtaking
late-1920s Paris. Another aspect that got way better was the use of
visual effects, especially when creating the fantastic beasts, who
have their own identity through their looks and attitudes. In a
nutshell, visually, “The Crimes of Grindelwald” is way better
than “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, and the visuals
must be one of the aspects that should be on viewers's minds when
purchasing the ticket.)
Indo para as atuações,
os membros do elenco do primeiro filme continuam entregando mais do
mesmo. O Eddie Redmayne continua incrível como Newt Scamander, com
suas peculiaridades e carinho pelos animais que ele cuida. O Dan
Fogler continua sendo o alívio cômico do filme como o padeiro e
ex-soldado Jacob Kowalski, mas consegue alcançar um arco emocionante
na sequência. Katherine Waterston e Alison Sudol continuam muito
boas como as irmãs Tina e Queenie Goldstein, e Ezra Miller está
operante como Credence Barebone. Os destaques no quesito atuação
nesse filme ficam com Jude Law, como um jovem Dumbledore, e com
Johnny Depp, como o ameaçador Grindelwald. Law consegue captar a
jovialidade do maior bruxo de todos os tempos com maestria, assim
como Depp consegue fazer um vilão crível, que não é mau só por
ser mau, mas tem uma verdadeira razão por trás daquilo que ele faz,
e isso é sempre bem-vindo em blockbusters de hoje em dia. Também
estão no elenco nomes novos como Callum Turner, Claudia Kim e
Brontis Jodorowsky, mas nenhum de seus personagens possui um
desenvolvimento que valha a pena ser mencionado. A personagem da Zoe
Kravitz, mencionada no primeiro filme, possui um bom desenvolvimento,
mas pareceu um pouco apressado, então não ficou muito entendível.
(Onward to the
performances, the cast members of the first film keep on delivering
more of the same. Eddie Redmayne continues to be amazing as Newt
Scamander, with his peculiarities and love for the animals he has in
his care. Dan Fogler continues to be the comic relief of the film as
the baker and former soldier Jacob Kowalski, but manages to reach a
thrilling arc in the sequel. Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol
continue to be very good as sisters Tina and Queenie Goldstein, and
Ezra Miller is operative as Credence Barebone. The highlights in the
film's performances are in Jude Law, as a young Dumbledore, and in
Johnny Depp as the threatening Grindelwald. Law manages to capture
the youthful spirit of the greatest wizard of all time masterfully,
and Depp manages to play a believable villain, who is not bad just
because he is evil by nature, but has a true reason behind everything
he does, and that is always welcome in today's blockbusters. The cast
also has new names like Callum Turner, Claudia Kim and Brontis
Jodorowsky, but none of their characters have a development worth
mentioning. Zoe Kravitz's character, however, has a nice, yet kinda
rushed, development, so it kind of remained misunderstood.)
Agora, chegamos ao
único erro que o filme cometeu. O roteiro, infelizmente, não chega
aos pés do desenvolvimento do visual e das atuações. Com a própria
J.K. Rowling, criadora desse universo, assinando o roteiro,
acreditava que esse filme poderia ter tido uma história incrível e
mágica, ao mesmo tempo sendo mais sombria, como os trailers
sugeriam. Mas não foi isso que aconteceu. O roteiro apresenta uma
quantidade colossal de personagens novos em um só filme, e nem todos
possuem um desenvolvimento bem trabalhado, o que provavelmente
acontecerá em futuros filmes da franquia. Além dos personagens
novos, há criaturas novas, e às vezes, é tanta coisa nova em uma
cena só que chega a ser cansativo e difícil de processar. Outra
falha no roteiro é o uso de flashbacks. Tem um flashback bem
trabalhado e outro bem apressado. O erro foi colocar o mais simples
como o mais bem trabalhado e o mais profundo e cheio de história
como o mais apressado, o que realmente dificulta o entendimento da
história para o espectador. Outra coisa difícil de entender foi o
final, que é completamente aberto à interpretações. Fico triste
em dizer isso, mas a história não possui a magia característica da
saga, e espero que em futuros filmes, isso se conserte.
(Now, we get to the
only mistake the movie made. The script, unfortunately, doesn't reach
the greatness of the visuals and the performances. With J.K. Rowling
herself, the creator of this universe, writing the screenplay, I
believed this movie could have an incredible and magical story, as
well as a darker one, as the trailers suggested. But that didn't
happen. The script introduces a colossal quantity of new characters
in just one movie, and not all of them have a good development, which
will probably take place in future films in the franchise. Besides
new characters, there are new beasts, and sometimes, there's too much
stuff in just one scene that it becomes tiring and hard to process.
Another script flaw is the use of flashbacks. There's a well-worked
one and a rushed one. The mistake was to set the more simple one as
the well-worked one and the one with lots of backstory as the rushed
one, which really difficults the understanding of the story by the
spectator. Another thing that was hard to understand was the ending,
which is completely open to interpretations. It saddens me to say
this, but the story doesn't have the saga's characteristic magic, and
I hope that, in future films, this may fix itself.)
Resumindo, “Animais
Fantásticos: Os Crimes de Grindelwald” é uma sequência
visualmente rica, e ao mesmo tempo, narrativamente confusa, mas que
possui uma base a ser desenvolvida em filmes futuros!
Nota: 8,5 de 10!!
